Leadville offers sprint triathlon

LEADVILLE ” On July 15, the Lake County Recreation Department will offer the Tri-It-High Sprint Triathlon.

At 10,200 feet, this sprint triathlon is one of the highest in the United States. The swim portion of the event will be held in our newly remodeled heated indoor facility with the bike and run legs being held on courses at the base of Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive.

The race will be clocked with AMB Chip X timing technology. Parking is free, and with entry free, racers get food and drink, race goody bag, swimming cap and prizes.



For those looking to compete in a specific leg, there are team categories. In preparation for the race, the Lake County Aquatic Center will be open July 14, from 2-8 p.m. and July 15 from 7 a.m. until race time for participants. The course will consist of 500-meter swim, 20K bike, and 5K run. The Race starts at 9 a.m.

Individual registration fee is $45 by July 2 and $55 by July 14. Team registration fees are $90 by July 2 and $100 by July 14. Registrations will not be accepted on race day.
