Local in top four at national horse show

Local rider Haley Didier of Eagle placed first in the Flat Class, fourth in the Over Fences Class portion, and second in the Western Stock Seat portion at the Summer College Bound Invitational Horse Show held in Newberry, Fla., recently.Not only was Didier one of the few riders to place in three of the sections of the horse show, but she also has a very impressive competition history. Didier is also interested in art and ski racing. The College Bound Invitational is a bi-annual horse show open to high school students from across the nation with an interest in pursuing a college career involving equestrian events and possibly obtaining a college scholarship. The show is also attended by NCAA Division I and II and IHSA Equestrian Team coaches. During the four day show, riders competed in English Hunter/Jumper Flat and Over Fence, Dressage and Western Stockseat classes. Prior to the event, students hoping to qualify for the Invitational, submitted applications listing their riding history, other hobbies and activities, awards, organizations involved in, and test scores. They may have also submitted video tapes showcasing their riding abilities. The College Bound Invitational has been held twice a year since its inception in December 2002. It has enjoyed a steady growth in popularity and has become an important step for the student rider who wishes to pursue an equestrian interest while in college. The July show included one hundred and 50 riders from 29 states and coaches from approximately 25 colleges. The College Bound Invitational is organized by Denna Johnson, owner of Full Partners Farm, a Hunter/Jumper facility located in Newberry, Fla. Full Partners Farm offers a beginner through hunt seat program for riders of all ages. The farm also holds winter and summer riding and horsemanship camps for all levels and ages as well as a College Bound Invitational Prep Camp.Vail, Colorado
