Roundup of local results from Eagle Valley Invite
Close to 20 schools attended the Eagle Valley Invite on Saturday in Gypsum, including Battle Mountain, Vail Christian and Eagle Valley high schools.
Here’s a look at how some of the local teams fared:
For the Lady Devils, Joslin Blair finished first in the 800 meter while sister Samantha finished second in the 300-meter hurdles and the 400-meter dash.

Avery Doan won the 1,600-meter race, and Tristin Book took second in the 100-meter hurdles.
The 4-by-100 relay team for Eagle Valley took first, and the 4-by-200 relay team took third.
Yanitza Carbajal finished fourth in the long jump as well as the triple jump.
For the boys, Holden Daniels won the pole vault, Miguel Castillo won the long jump and Jackson Stricker won the shot put.
Trace Hobbs finished second in the discus, and Stricker got fourth.
Alejandro Aragon finished second in the 100 meter dash, Carter Baker finished third in the 1,600-meter race and Gage Nielson, Matthew Grewe and Luke Morrissey also got top 10s in the 1,600 meter.
David Sanchez, John Papadopolous and Luke Morrissey finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 3,200-meter race.
Tony Hernandez jumped to two fourth place finishes in hurdles.
The relay team for the boys of Eagle Valley took second in the 4-by-400 relay and the 4-by-800 relay.
For the Lady Huskies, Hayley Brewster finished sixth in the 1,600 meter and Clarisa Ortega took eighth. Amalia Manning finished third in the 3,200 meter.
For the boys, Andrew Rogers finished fourth in the 1,600 meter with Sullivan Middaugh fifth and Jason Macaluso eighth. Rogers also finished in the top 10 of the 800 meter.
Middaugh took second in the 3,200 while Ari Dennis joined him on the podium in third.
Wyatt Nelson also took fifth in the pole vault.
The Lady Saints relay team finished second in the 800-meter sprint medley relay.
Mariana Engleby finished 10th in the 200-meter dash and fifth in the 400-meter dash.
Abby Kuhns finished fourth in the shot put.
For the boys, Keaton Brausch finished third in the 400-meter dash, with Kellen Kinsella fourth. Jose Ascencio took second in the 800-meter race.
E.J. Koller took third in the 300-meter hurdles with Zack McKeever taking fifth. McKeever also finished fifth in the discus.
The boys 4-by-100 relay team finished second.
