Two Eagle Valley Middle School volleyball players were selected for USA Volleyball’s national training level High Performance Camps this summer.

The High Performance Camps, the tryouts are held in conjunction with various National Junior Olympic Qualifying Tournaments held throughout the junior club season around the country, are used to help identify volleyball prospects and to give them training beyond their club and school programs.

Alex Lassa, who plays for the Front Range Mountain Volleyball Club-Mountain Division 15-under team, was selected to the Girls Select A-2 Training Program which will train with top national coaches for five days at the Olympic Training Center in early August. Only 34 juniors in her age range from around the United States were selected for this program.

Kelsey Van Goey, who played for the FRVBC-Mountain Division 14s throughout this year’s club volleyball season and was recently moved-up to the 15s, was selected to the Girl’s Select A-2 Development Training Program.

Both girls are in eighth grade and will be accompanying the Mountain Division 15s to the AAU Junior National Championships next week in Orlando, Fla.

The Front Range Volleyball Club’s Mountain Division teams train at Berry Creek Middle School in Edwards and is gearing up for their summer camps. To find out more about the FRVBC-Mountain Division summer programs, and camps, go to http://www.frvbc.com.
