Daily Staff Report

The Colorado Open Championship has long been recognized as one of the best state opens in the country. There are many ingredients that contribute to an event’s success, but three of the most important are great players, a great purse and great venues. Over its 40-year history the Colorado Open has enjoyed an abundance of all three.

Representing Eagle County in the 156-player field are Jeff Hanson, director of golf at Red Sky Golf Club and Eric Bradley, first assistant professional also at Red Sky Golf Club.

Both professionals received exemptions into the tournament due to their status on the top 25 players in Colorado point list.

Jeff Hanson is the father of three children, married to Nancy and resides in Edwards. Eric Bradley is the father of two children, married to Kim and resides in Eagle Ranch. John Hearn of Eagle also qualified for the event at the qualifying round held at Eagle Ranch Golf Club on July 19.

The 2006 Health One Colorado Open Championship will be held at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver. There is a $125,000 minimum purse for the Championship that begins on Thursday. More details and real time scoring can be viewed at http://www.ColoradoOpen.com

The Colorado Open list of champions includes Dave Hill, Al Geiberger, Willie Wood, Mark Weibe and Steve Jones, Peter Jacobsen, Bob Tway, Corey Pavin, Steve Elkington and Phil Mickelson. Kevin Stadler won the Open when it was held at Sonnenalp Golf Club in 2002.
