McGill to lead Ski and Snowboard Club Vail snowboard program

VAIL – Ski and Snowboard Club Vail named Stephen McGill Friday its new snowboard program director.
McGill replaces Ben Boyd, who resignedon May 31 after seven seasons. Boyd was recognized for his achievements in 2008 by being selected both SSCV’s Coach of the Year as well as The Unites States Ski and Snowboard Domestic Snowboard Coach of the Year.
A dual American and Australian citizen, McGill was born in Albuquerque, N.M., to parents of New Zealand and Australian descent. He spent his early years in Australia where he was introduced to snowboarding and began his career in the industry in 1997.
From 1997 to last year, McGill enjoyed an “endless winter,” coaching and teaching snowboarding both at Mt. Buller, British Columbia, and Thredbo, Australia, and here in Vail where he spent 11 seasons at Beaver Creek Resort.
Last season was McGill’s first with SSCV as assistant snowboard program director, head coach of the Middle School Academy and head coach of the junior home and competition teams. He will begin immediately and can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org.
