More Mogul Mania on tap
The nation’s largest pro/am bump series for skiers, boarders and telemarkers, the second of four Mogul Mania events starts at 10 a.m., with single-elimination moguls competition on dual courses, while the Air Show is at 1 p.m.In the opener on Jan. 18, Steamboat’s Jordan Chiovarelli grabbed the $1,000 first-place check in the Pro Men’s Division, while Jimmy Schad of Breckenridge went back over Vail Pass $1,000 richer for his Air Show win.”The competition was extremely heated in the opener,” said Jeff Brausch of Highline Sports & Entertainment, the Vail-based company which produces Mogul Mania. “And we expect nothing less this weekend. There’s a sizeable amount of great mogul skiers throughout the region and Mogul Mania offers them an opportunity to come together and air it out.”In addition to the Pro and Air Show competitions, Mogul Mania also includes categories for all ages and abilities of skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers.Along with the on-hill festivities, Mogul Mania also features a post-event awards party at Garfinkel’s in Lionshead, complete with food and beverage, giveaways and raffles, and awards for all divisions.The final two Mogul Mania Series events are slated for March 8 and 22, with all events hosted on Cookshack.Registration for Mogul Mania is currently under way, with entries priced at $25 for amateur competitors and $50 for professionals and Air Show participants.
