Mountain Division team moves up

Special to the DailyThe Front Range Volleyball Club-Mountain Division Navy 15s went 3-1 at a tournament last weekend.

Competing in the second round of the Rocky Mountain Region-USAV Power League I tourney, the FRVBC-Mountain Division 15-Navy team accredited itself well despite the same early-tourney jitters that plagued both of their sister teams last week.

Behind the setting of Rebecka Van Voorst and the steady passing and offense from Eagle Valley’s Shelby Wright, the 15s squad overcame a first-round match that saw them struggle with mistakes and tension. After losing that first match to the NORCO 14s (Ft. Collins), they came back to win three-straight matches against the Rocky Elite 15s (Englewood), the Pike’s Peak 15s (Colorado Springs) and the Juggernaut 15s (Wheatridge) to place third in Division III and earn an automatic berth in Division II for Power League No. 2.

Coach Aaron Shepardson was extremely pleased with the way that his team “responded to their poor play early in the day.

“We learned how to generate more competitive emotion.”
