New Vail running club meets Thursdays this summer

Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – The Vail Recreation District’s new Vail Strides Running Club will lead group runs on and around Vail’s scenic recreation paths Thursdays throughout the summer, beginning this week.

The new, free, weekly running club will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the base of Vail Mountain adjacent to the Vista Bahn and be led by local runner Greg Decent with help from a variety of other local running enthusiasts.

According to Decent, the club will be a great way to meet new training partners, train for the local La Sportiva Vail Mountain Trail Running Series or just have fun running the roads and paths surrounding Vail.

Most runs will be between five and eight miles and all ages, experience and abilities are welcome. Runners should have a running base and feel comfortable at altitude. Runs will be followed by light stretching, cool down and a social gathering at Los Amigos in Vail Village, where participants will receive one free drink (beer or soda) at the restaurant and enjoy dining specials throughout the evening.

Although involvement in the weekly run is free, participants can become Vail Strides Running Club member for $25 and will receive a one-of-a-kind Vail Strides Running Club tech, T-shirt.

In addition to Los Amigos, running club partners are currently being sought and will receive mention in collateral, advertisements, news releases and have an opportunity provide hard goods to club members.
