Daily staff report
Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Over 400 teams have pre-registered for the 39th annual Vail “King of the Mountain” Open, a pro-am beach volleyball tournament to be held over Father’s Day Weekend, Friday through Sunday.

The “King of the Mountain” features divisions of play for everyone from juniors’ boys and girls all the way up to men’s and women’s open division players. The event features barbecue and music.

There aren’t many beaches in the state of Colorado, but one of the best inland beaches in the United States is located at the Vail Athletic Field, where the best players from all over the Rocky Mountain region compete for the highly-coveted award of being the king and queen of the beach.

Friday: Men’s Masters/Seniors, Women’s Masters, and Co-Ed Divisions. Free juniors beach volleyball clinic is noon-4:30 p.m.

Saturday: Men’s and Women’s Open, A, BB, B and Juniors Competition.

Sunday: Men’s and Women’s Open A, BB, and B elimination rounds and finals. Special Father’s Day divisions: Father/Son and Father/Daughter.
