As some local ski racers close out their season in California, Vails Hunter Schleper is kicking off his April trip through Scandinavia.Schleper, who skis with Iced Out Racing, took second in a slalom in Hovden, Norway Thursday. Matija Zavirsek, who led after the first run, held on to win at 1 minute, 40.22 seconds. Schleper, who was in third place after his first pass, 0.60 seconds off Zavireks mark, came in at a combined 1:40.79.Earlier in the week, Schleper competed in a pair of giant slalom races in Sweden, and hell be racing in Scandinavia until the end of the month.Stateside, in the final race of the Mammoth Series in California, a downhill, Ski & Snowboard Club Vails Will Gregorak took third among a heavy field. The U.S. Ski Teams Bryon Friedman won the two-run downhill in a combined time of 1 minute, 50.05 seconds. Gregorak came in at 1:50.85, while teammates John Kemp and Nathan Asoian were 13th (1:51.94) and 14th (1:51.96).Delainey Ackerman, had another great race in the ladies downhill, placing fourth.
