Pedal Power snowshoe series concludes Saturday

VAIL – The Billy’s Island Grill Vail Mountain 5-Miler, the final race in Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure Series, is Saturday at 7 p.m. Pre-race registration begins at Billy’s Island Grill in Lionshead at 5 p.m.. Cost for this final race is $20 for pre-registration and $25 on race day.This evening race gives competitors the opportunity to test their strength and endurance on one of the biggest ski hills in North America. All racers will need a lightsource to “see” their way to the finish line of this course.An end-of-series awards party will take place immediately after the race at Billy’s Island Grill. Awards will be given to the top five finishers in both the men’s and women’s categories for both this race and the overall series.The race covers lower Vail Mountain with challenging climbs and descents over ski terrain as well as long stretches of untracked single track through the woods. All proceeds from the Pedal Power Snowshoe Series benefit local Eagle County charities. The series consists of five events starting in late November and running through early March. Title-sponsors for this year’s series are Vail/Summit Orthopedics and 1st Bank. Other series sponsors include Gorsuch Ltd., Ryders Eyewear, CW-X Clothing and SOS Socks. Participants can pre-register with forms from Pedal Power Bicycle Shop in Eagle-Vail or by calling 970 845-0931. Registration forms can also be downloaded online at pedalpowerbike.com.
