Special to the Daily/Carl LindbloomFresh off a 7-0 pasting of Aspen, the Vail-Eagle Pee Wee B's are ready for the Divide League playoffs.

The Vail-Eagle Mountaineers Pee Wee B team ended the regular season on a high note Saturday, defeating the Aspen Leafs 7-0 at the Eagle Ice Arena.

The Mountaineers improved their Divide League record to 13-2-1 and their overall mark to 19-6-4.

With head coach Eric Lickteig shuffling his lines in preparation for postseason play, several new faces led the scoring parade. Left wing Stefan Sortland notched his first hat trick of the season, followed by single markers from Jesse Greve, Ben Hymes, Michael Viera and Michael Wilhelm.

Hymes wracked up two assists while Jonnie Nolan and Wilhelm each added single helpers. Goaltender Carter Peel recorded his league-leading sixth shutout in Divide League play and ninth of the season.

Vail-Eagle heads to the Providence Ice Centre in Windsor for the Divide League Playoffs on March 9-11. The Mountaineers hope to secure a spot in the Colorado Amateur Hockey Association State Championships in Denver on March 15-17.

Team members are Bjorn Bredeson, Erik Sortland, Phil Middleton, Karl Norris, Garrett Funk, Peel, Greve, Wilhelm, Viera, Nolan, Hymes and Stefan Sortland. The Mountaineers are coached by Eric Lickteig and Lonnie Bredeson and managed by the Aged Twineminder.
