Race in Edwards looks to scrape up some dirt

The first Dash in the Dirt bike and run relay race is 9 a.m. Saturday at the Homestead Court Club. All proceeds from the event will go to the Vail Valley Charitable Fund, a Colorado non-profit organization that assists locals in financial need due to medical crisis, accident or catastrophe.Moontime Cyclery is presenting three races: an 8-mile competitive race, a 4-mile “complete not compete” and a kids Dirt Dash. The 8- and 4-mile race track is paved road and off road trails. All teams must have one bike and two participants. One racer will bike while the other runs, then they switch off mid-way through the race. The kid’s Dirt Dash is at the soccer field in Edwards at 11 a.m. and open to ages 1- 10 years.A community barbecue and awards ceremony is at the soccer field on Edwards Village Boulevard from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ladies bike team High Maintenance will be demonstrating bike tricks during the barbecue. There’s also an amateur skills competition for prizes.

Entry fees are: 8-mile competitors, $50; 4-mile competitors, $40; Kids Dash, $10 per child.
