Red golfers support the Salvation Army
The Second annual Vail Valley Salvation Army Kettle Tournament was held recently at Red Sky Golf Club.
A sold-out field of players played a modified scramble on the Fazio course, courtesy of Vail Resorts Development Company. Salvation putts were once again a needed plus for the teams.Players dressed in red to show their support for Salvation Army. Red crocs courtesy of Lye Viers were awarded the best dressed team from Matthews and Associates (Richard Matthews, Mike Williams, Pete Casey and Mike McCurdy.) Best-dressed prizes also were given to teams from Stewart Title and the Erik Monson and Stan Cope Team. Perry Longo’s team and Vail Resorts Development also looked sporty in their matching red team shirts.
Closest to the pin for men was Rick Kunz from Chase Manhattan and longest drive for men was Derek Dodd with Terry Nettles and Janet Hill closest to the pin in the ladies division.
The all ladies team from Blue Sky Mortgage won the co-ed honors (Marka Brenner, Annie Apple, Tamara Cartmill and Pat Cuny) followed by the team of Eric and Belinda Monson, Stan and Mary Ellen Cope. Jeff Koch and Hill, Peter and Lynn Mackechine were in third place. Perry Longo’s team from HM Brown captured the all male division. A close second was the team from the Tap Room (Steve Kaufman, Dave Root, Steve Simonett, Ben Hohman) followed by the team of Wally Carey, Trudo Letschert and John O’Connell.
