Regis tops Huskies hockey 2-1
Having lost in double overtime to the Huskies in last year’s playoffs, Regis turned the tables on Battle Mountain. The Raiders scored the game-winner on a shorthanded goal, the second the Huskies have allowed this season.
“It was a tough way to lose a game,” Huskies coach Jade Kersey said. “We had our chances. We outshot them all over the place, but we didn’t capitalize on our opportunities. When you only allow two goals, you should win the game.”
Austin Chow scored Battle Mountain’s lone goal in the second. The Huskies outshot Regis 33-16.
Battle Mountain (1-1) hosts Kent Denver Wednesday in the home opener at Dobson at 6:45 p.m.
“Hopefully, this game will send a good message,” Kersey said. “If you want to be a champion, you’ve got to work hard every day. You can’t pick the days you want to work. We’re hoping to take this fuel for the home opener.”
