Richardson takes second in giant slalom at Vail

VAIL – Lucie Zikova retained her lead after this first run to win a giant slalom race Saturday on Vail’s Golden Peak. The Czech Republic’s Zikova beat U.S. National downhill champion Kaylin Richardson by almost one second, finishing in 2 minutes, 10.36 seconds.
Richardson took silver ahead of Liechtenstein’s Sarah Schaedler, who was third. American Sterling Grant was fourth.Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s Erika Ghent was seventh, one spot ahead of retired U.S. Team member Kristina Koznick. Other top SSCV finishers include Alyssa Cartmill (19th), Georgia Wettlaufer (33rd), Ashley Babcock (38th), Jenny Banner (41st) and Delainey Ackerman (46th).
