Rockies’ notes: Embree hopes to return this season

Troy E. Renck
The Denver Post

DENVER, Colorado – Alan Embree sat on the clubhouse couch Monday wearing a comic book T-shirt, appropriate for a 39-year-old who has designs on a superhero comeback.

Embree suffered a displaced fracture in his right leg when he was struck by Martin Prado’s line drive on July 10 against the Braves. He had a titanium rod placed into the bone to stabilize it, along with two large screws.

There was concern from teammates that Embree had thrown the last pitch of his career. Not if Embree can help it.

“If I don’t have any setbacks, I am hoping to be back in September,” Embree said.
