Saints Homecoming spotlight: Rachel Glandorf
Vail Christian senior Rachel Glandorf’s favorite movies are “chick flicks.” But, a better choice may be “Catch Me If You Can,” because it’s hard to keep up with her. She’s an all-leaguer in volleyball in the fall, the same with basketball come winter and a state medalist in track in the 800 meters in the spring. If that’s not enough, she gets up in the wee hours of the morning to work out. We finally caught up with Glandorf to get a glimpse of the senior’s life. I think it’s the most team sport that there is. If you don’t have a good pass or a good hit, it’s really hard to have the final good hit. What’s your best moment on the volleyball court?: “Beating (Vail Mountain) last year and then going to regionals was the next best.”What’s the goal for last year?: “I think the main thing for our whole team is to be first in league and then go to regionals and, hopefully, state.”Before school you work out?: “It’s lifting a couple days a week, running workouts, the whole getting miles in. Because I don’t do cross country, I do volleyball, instead, that creates some problems. So I need to get the miles in.” What time to you get up?: “Usually around 5-5:30 a.m.”When do you go to bed?: “Because of my early morning schedule, I can’t stay up past 10.”Favorite subject: FrenchCollege plans: Top two choices are Baylor and Azusa PacificCareer plans: Sports medicineOther sports: Basketball and trackWhat’s it like to be a three-sport athlete?: “Obviously, it keeps me very busy. I would be so bored if I didn’t. I wouldn’t know what to do. I love it.”
What’s the goal for track?: “I want to be state champion in the 800. I want to do my PR’s a lot earlier in the season rather than later. That’s why I’m working so hard now so it will happen.”Do you like to watch sports?: “I love to watch sports. It’s the only thing on in our house.
