Saints shine at state

The Saints picked up a pair of eighth-place finishes – both new personal bests and school records – at the Colorado Class 2A Track and Field Championships.

In the pole vault, sophomore Robbie Brgoch flew 11 feet, topping his old school mark of 10 feet, 6 inches. What’s more, Brgoch is only a sophomore and likely has a few more trips to state in his future.

“Robbie’s getting to the point where he’s doing things technically well,” Saints coach Bob Isbell said. “I think he competed extremely well by vaulting his best in state. He has a great desire to do well in the vault.”

Brgoch joined teammate Will Guffey, Dan Ferguson and Kyle Morris in the 400 relay. The quartet made the finals and, once there, the Saints took eighth with a new school record of 46.23 seconds.

“In the 4-by-1, we have three sophomores in Kyle, Will and Robbie,” Isbell said. “Just the experience of placing at state and running in the finals will be a great experience which will help them move forward in the next few years.”
