Saints, Vail Mountain School spikers Think Pink

EDWARDS — Yes, Vail Christian volleyball defeated Vail Mountain School, 25-13, 25-16, 25-8, on Tuesday night.

More importantly, it was Think Pink Night and the Saints and Gore Rangers raised $600 for Jack’s Place, which offers lodging for patients receiving care from the Shaw Regional Cancer Center.

Huzzah to both squads on that count.

On the sporting end of things, Vail Christian is 12-0 overall and 9-0 in the Gore League.

“I’m proud of our record,” Saints coach Cathy Alexander said. “The girls have worked hard and they going though (the league) the second time. It’s tougher the second time though and they know they can’t let down.”

The race continues

And in the 4A Slope, the Battle Mountain and Eagle Valley volleyball teams continue to match each other stride for stride.

The Huskies won at Glenwood Springs, 25-19, 25-17, 25-22, on Tuesday to pull their league record to 5-1. Battle Mountain, Eagle Valley and Steamboat are knotted up atop the Slope with Delta at 4-2.

Next up for the Huskies is a trip to Steamboat Springs on Thursday. Eagle Valley, which beat Roaring Fork, 25-13, 25-9, 25-22, on Tuesday, will have an eye on that match. The Devils also have Glenwood Springs in town on Thursday night for homecoming.
