ENGLEWOOD, Colorado ” Friday morning camp report

During an interview on a local sports radio station Friday morning, head coach Mike Shanahan all but guaranteed a postseason berth for the Broncos, telling 104.3 FM the Fan “we’re not going to miss the playoffs.”

Shanahan clarified his remarks after the morning practice session. “What I said is, No. 1 you have to be a little bit lucky, a little bit fortunate,” Shanahan said. “I have some high expectations for this team and hopefully we’ll get there.”

Etc.

Center Tom Nalen did not practice again on Friday, still hampered by knee trouble. “Tom’s such a tough guy. When he feels like he’s ready to go, he’ll go,” Shanahan said. “When will that be? I don’t know.” The Broncos signed free agent Casey Wiegmann, knowing there was a possibility Nalen could have a setback from his knee surgery. “We thought (Wiegmann) was the nuts and bolts of that offensive line in Kansas City all those years,” Shanahan said. … Guard Montrae Holland still is working on the side, trying to lose weight so that he can be allowed to join the team in practices. While he loses weight, Holland is losing reps and will be in a battle for his starting job . . . Linebacker Boss Bailey was held out of practice due to inflammation in his knee . . . Safety Hamza Abdullah suffered a slight groin injury during practice which forced him out of the final drills of the morning session … Rookie safety Josh Barrett showed his closing speed on Thursday with a pass break-up. On Friday Barrett offered a glimpse of his power when he bowled over a running back on a blitz to get to the quarterback.
