DENVER – San Jose coach Todd McLellan says he expects forward Dany Heatley to play in Game 4 on Tuesday night against the Colorado Avalanche.

Heatley was held out of the Sharks’ 1-0 overtime loss Sunday night with an unspecified injury.

The San Jose players were given the day off from practice Monday. McLellan said Heatley would go through treatment and he’s “that close” to playing as the Sharks trail 2-1 in the series.

Heatley has been on the same line with Patrick Marleau and Joe Thornton, a trio that scored 40 percent of San Jose’s goals in the regular season.

So far this series, they’ve been stymied.
