VAIL, Colorado It was the very same force that likely brought people to watch the Session online that almost prevented the live webcast from taking place. When a snowstorm shut down Interstate 70 for nearly a full day last week, the Session went on. And so did live streaming video of the event. We barely made it over (Vail Pass), said Mike Loiurio, production manager with Go211, which provided the first webcast for the Session. We eventually got everything together, but it was a little sketchy in the first five minutes. For those unable to make it to Vails Golden Peak on Friday or Saturday, all of the jibs, jumps and jive were available in real-time video.Along with footage of riders which came from the TV feed the webcast had four other camera feeds, including one with a field reporter. Three cameras were stationed at the top of the new competition building to the left of the Golden Peak lift, where commentators sat on a couch and conducted interviews. We try to cut up the footage and put it on the Web so people can watch it afterwards, Loiurio said. We try and make it as easy as possible for people who cant come to the event to watch it.Along with the Session, Go211 also hosted video at the Winter X Games, the Burton European Open and other outdoor events such as mountain biking and surfing.Sports Writer Ian Cropp can be reached at 748-2935 or icropp@vaildaily.com.
