Ski and Snowboard Club Vail wins Surefoot trophy
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” For the second year in a row, Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s alpine ski racers have won the overall trophy in the Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup Tour, Colorado’s FIS-level competition.
This series hosts U.S. Ski Team members, the country’s top collegiate skiers, as well as an international field of athletes.
Along with the overall win, SSCV’s boys placed first for the season-long tour and the SSCV girls took 2nd.
“This has been one of our goals all season,” men’s coach Mike Womack said. “We have a strong older group of skiers scoring for the team with a younger talented group moving up.”
When asked about the significance of winning this award, SSCV’s alpine program director Karen Ghent said, “Winning the overall trophy is a huge accomplishment for the club, and it’s exciting we won two years in a row. This shows we have depth in our program, and that we are turning out the top skiers in the division.”
On the second-place trophy for the girls in the Surefoot Cup, Ghent added, “This is really good considering many of our junior women are skiing at an elite level.”
