Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s Byrne wins JO slalom in Aspen

ASPEN, Colorado In Wednesdays J2 National Junior Olympics, the best 15- and 16-year-old ski racers in the country lined up at the start to take their best shot in the slalom race held in Aspen, and Ski and Snowboard Club Vails Greta Byrne showed the womens field her skill in this discipline. Byrne had the fastest lap in both of her runs to win with a combined time that handily won her 1st place by 1.77 seconds. Greta used her confidence and ability to win today, said coach Dan Stripp. SSCV also placed two other women in the top 10. Mary Sackbauer skied two strong runs to an eighth-place finish while Anne Strong moved up from a start number of 3 to garner 10th place. Todays results show the (Ski & Snowboard Club Vail) girls are skiing at a national level, said coach Stripp.The J2 National Junior Olympics continues today with giant slalom for theboys and girls in Aspen.
