Ski and Snowboard Club Vail’s Samuelson wins again
Vail, CO Colorado
WINTER PARK – Ski and Snowboard Club Vail had three of its women ski their way into the top-five spots in the Surefoot Colorado Ski Cup downhill at Winter Park Wednesday, and Kaytlyn Samuelson took the top honors on this day, as she did in Tuesday’s DH.
Samuelson took her No. 13 spot and turned it into gold with a time of 1 minute, 17.86 seconds to beat out Aspen’s Katherine Ryan.
“It was awesome,” Samuelson said of her second win in a row. “These were my first downhill races of the season, and it was a rush.”
When asked what she was thinking about before and during her runs, Samuelson said, “I try not to over think what I’m doing. I just treat it like a training run, and this helps me perform the best I can. If I’ve performed to what I wanted to do, then I’m pleased.”
As for the other two SSCV women skiing their way into the top five, Anne Strong placed fourth with a 1:19.06, and Celine Guilmineau was right on Strong’s heels finishing in fifth with a 1:19.10, only 0.04 seconds behind her teammate!
SSCV’s men had Nathan Asoian move up one spot from his fourth in Tuesday’s DH to third place in Wednesday’s run at the track while Cannon O’Brien moved up from 15th in the Tuesday’s DH to 12th in the second race. Christoph Nederhauser made it into the top 20 crossing the finish line in 17th place.
