Snowbarders rack up medals at nationals

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Ski and Snowboard Club Vail brought nine athletes to the USA Snowboarding Association Nationals last week and captured 10 medals, including two top-five finishes.Kim Krahulec took top 10 in every discipline, winning both the triple overall and combined overall in the open women’s division.”Kimbo showed us what a great all-arounder she is,” said SSCV snowboarding director Ben Boyd.Kendall Wilson won the combined overall and placed second in the triple overall in the 16-17-year-old division in only her second nationals.”We were totally jazzed for the girls as they trained and competed hard, and the results came their way.”Sean Roley took a bronze in giant slalom and fifth in halfpipe, as well as being in the top 10 for all other disciplines. At only 5, Cody Warble was Top 15 for slope and halfpipe, while Kirra Kotsenburg, 8, took third in halfpipe, third in the overall title, third in alpine overall and top five in every other division.Ryan Wachendorfer, 8, won bronze in the slopestyle event, as well as sixth in boardercross.
