Teva 10K@10,000 Feet Trail Run Sunday

Staff Report

Runners can participate in the Teva Vail Mountain Trail Running Points Series, based on their finishes in the next five races, unaffected by the fact that they missed the first race.

The series kicks off Sunday with the Teva Vail Mountain 10K@10,000 Feet presented by Larkspur Restaurant. The course consists of dirt roads and single-track trails. Runners will start at Mid-Vail and climb to Wildwood atop Vail Mountain. From there, the course winds across the Grand Traverse and back to Mid-Vail for a post race party under Colorado blue skies. Food, drinks, T-shirts and prizes will be awarded.

The action begins at 9 a.m. at Mid-Vail on Vail Mountain. Registration and bib pick-up will be located at the base of the Eagle Bahn Gondola in Lionshead. Racers and spectators will ride the Gondola to Eagle’s Nest and take a short walk, run or van ride to the Mid-Vail start area. Please allow yourself plenty of extra time to get to the starting line.

For more information, call the Vail Recreation District Sports Department at (970) 479-2280 or log on to http://www.vailrec.com. Sign up in person at the Vail Tennis Center at Ford Park through June 21 or register on-line at http://www.active.com. Pre-registration fee is $20 and day-of race registration is available for $30 at the base of the gondola. Please note that there is no Saturday registration. Volunteers are needed and will receive a race T-shirt and goodie bag.

Special thanks to Teva, the Larkspur Restaurant, the Steadman Hawkins Clinic, the Vail Daily, the US Forest Service and Vail Resorts for sponsoring this event, brought to you by the Vail Recreation District.
