Triathlon Saturday at Tennessee Pass
Vail, CO Colorado
VAIL, Colorado ” Pedal, stride and glide are keys to success as the Pedal Power Snowshoe Adventure Series continues with the Annual Dogma Athletica Winter Triathlon.
It’s Saturday at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at 10 a.m. with 5K snowshoe, a 10K snow-bike and 5K skate-ski segments. This event is open to both individual competitors and teams.
The race will benefit the Mike Janelle Family Fund. Mike Janelle, a world-class bike racer and perennial presence on the region’s endurance sports scene, died unexpectedly last year.
“In the earlier years, this series included a duathlon, which was a favorite among our regular participants,” race organizer Bruce Kelly said. “With the growing popularity of winter biking, we thought it would add a fun new dimension to the winter multi-sport concept. With the optimal snow conditions we’ve got this winter, we anticipate strong participation in this unique event. And, with the cold temperatures we’ve had it should be a very fast course.”
Racers should meet at the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center at Ski Cooper, between Interstate-70 and Leadville. The snowshoe leg of the event is on off-piste, singletrack with the bike and ski portions on groomed Nordic track.
Registration for this event is $30 for individuals and $50 for teams. Participants can pre-register with forms from Pedal Power Bicycle Shop in Eagle-Vail or by calling 970 845-0931.
