About halfway though the grueling Race Across America, Vail’s Kerry White hasn’t slowed down. In fact, she’s gained some speed.
White, a type I diabetic, and the only female solo rider left, made headway into Kansas Saturday.
“Her drive to continue is unbelievable,” said White’s husband Stephen. “When she falls asleep on her bike, we’ve gotta stop and make her nap or give her coffee.
“It’s tough because the best thing for her would be to keep her in bed.”
Whit was set to pass the halfway mark late Saturday night.
In the four-man division, Beaver Creek – Team Catlin continued to hold a lead on Team Psycho with about one-fourth of the race to go.
