EDWARDS – Colorado Rocky Mountain School came into Edwards and stole one from Vail Christian Thursday in the final minute of regulation, winning 2-1 on a game-winning goal by Josie Horn.-

It was Senior Day for the Saints players Gracen McGuckin, Paris Barker, Mimi Nary, and Kierra Kalakewich.-

Midway through the first half the Saints were putting pressure on CRMS, especially McGuckin who was finally able to capitalize giving Vail Christian the early 1-0 lead. Just before the first half ended CRMS’s Horn got a chance at goal, but was stuffed by Saints goalie Kalakewich.-

Going into the second half, CRMS did not give up and kept on fighting the entire way. CRMS’s Cleo Ulatowski sped down the field and was able to bury one in the back of the net, tying the game at one.-

The Saints had many opportunities to take the lead and as did CRMS, but both goalies were playing superbly.-

In this case, it would go CRMS’s way when Horn was able to chip it over the Saints goal keeper in the final minute.-

CRMS coach A.O. Forbes was thrilled on the win,

“It’s great,” said coach Forbes. “We have lots of freshman, so we have to learn the game.”-

CRMS (2-8 overall and 2-6 in league) will play Vail Mountain School in East Vail on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Thursday was not how Saints coach Lauren Mutter wanted the game to go for her seniors.

“We did a lot of really good things and we looked like a good soccer team,” said Mutter. “Everyone is going to miss them a lot. They’re good leaders, fun to be around, and lots of jokesters out there. It’s going to be different without them there.”-

Vail Christian (1-8, 1-6) will be at Coal Ridge on Saturday at 11 a.m.-
