EDWARDS, Colorado ” A fast-paced Rangely boys basketball team jumped on Vail Christian early and never looked back.

The visiting Panthers beat the Saints, 62-44, on Tuesday night in Edwards.

“They came out with more intensity than we did tonight,” Vail Christian coach Sheldon Kuhns said. “We gave up a lot of transition points early.”

Rangely build a 15-point lead on Vail Christian in the first half. After the break, the Saints played better, but it wasn’t enough.

Will Parker led Vail Christian with 15 points. Kieran Hurtt added 10 for the Saints. A.J. Burgess had seven points.

“Give them credit, they really played well,” Kuhns said. “They came into our gym and out played us.”

Vail Christian gets a chance for revenge on Friday when it travels to Rangely for a rematch.
