Vail Cup race Saturday at Black Forest
The Vail Cup series, hosted by Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, will close out the season this Saturday.
The Vail Cup is a local junior ski race that represents some of the best young skiers in the Vail Valley. The race will be held at the Black Forest Race Arena beginning at 10 am.
Athletes from the Young Champions Programs, including the Arc Force, Carver Corps, and Gravity Corps Programs will be competing.
Many local racers from outside SSCV also will be attending the race, coming from such programs as the Vail Devo Team, Beaver Creek’ Bevo Team, and the Buddy Werner League.
This week’s race will be a dual giant slalom, where the young racers will compete side-by-side against their competitors. One of the positives of a dual-format slalom is that racers are not only racing against the clock but against another skier – something that brings out true competitors.
Registration is free and anyone interested in signing up their son or daughter in the race can call the club at (970) 476-5119 ext. 119.
