Vail Golf Club hosts sandbagging party Saturday

VAIL – In preparation for spring runoff, the Vail Golf Club is hosting a sandbagging party from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the golf course clubhouse.Volunteers are needed to help fill sandbags that will be placed near golf course greens along the Gore Creek in floodplain locations to protect the greens in case of flooding.Volunteers will receive their Vail Golf Club Golf Handicap and Information Network (GHIN) card free, a $25 value, and be able to purchase Vail Golf Club passes at an early season rate of $850. GHIN cards are used to track golfer’s handicap throughout the season. Additionally, the Clubhouse Restaurant will air The Master’s on its big screen television in the Kruger Room and provide free beer for those 21 and older while it lasts. Participants are asked to bring a shovel and work gloves. The Vail Golf Club, which is operated by the Vail Recreation District, has announced its 2006 season pricing with rounds starting as low as $29 during the shoulder season. Vail Golf Club season passes are available for $850 until June 1 and then will be available for $950. The golf club is scheduled to open late May, weather permitting.
