Vail, CO Colorado

VAIL, Colorado – Chezron Racing, a professional off-road motorcycle racing team based out of Vail, took first place in the Tecate-Score Baja 1000 Peninsula Run Nov. 17-20.

The race includes over 1,000 miles of off-road racing down the Baja peninsula from Ensenada to La Paz, Mexico. Rider of record and team owner Sol Saltzman was joined by T.O. Powersports/Fasst Co/Oneal rider Ryan Kudla, two-time WORCS Pro Privateer of the Year Matt Karlsen, BITD Four Stroke Champion Ricky Brabec, 2009 Baja 1000 Class 21 winner Mike Blackman, and Ducati road racer Brad Hendry.

Chezron Racing was able to finish the race in about 22 hours, 45 minutes beating out other factory teams, finishing just 13 minutes behind the second-place overall bike finisher and finishing the race as the fourth overall bike across the line.

In addition to their first place finish at the Baja 1000, Chezron finished out the 2010 SCORE season as the Pro Class 21 overall points champion, with a first-place finish at the Baja 500 and a third-place finish at the San Felipe 250.

The infamous Baja 1000, known for its treacherous and unforgiving Baja terrain, is a race that pits man and machine against the elements and has been hailed by many as one of the most dangerous races in the world. What started by accident in 1965, when two adventurous riders decided they wanted to go by motorcycle from Tijuana (just south of the U.S. border) all the way to La Paz (at the southern tip of the Baja peninsula), just to see if it could be done, has now evolved into one of the most challenging and best known motor sports events in all the world.

Two other team riders that were unable to race due to injuries – Tony Larese of Vail and Bill Boyer of Lomita, Calif.

The team’s crew includes Gordon Lewis of Vail, Jason Elmblad of Vail and Big John of Vail.
