Vail Mountain falls to Aspen, 6-0
About the only good news on the local high school girls soccer scene Tuesday was that Battle Mountain did not have a game.
Eagle Valley went down big to 3A Slope-leading Basalt, and Vail Mountain didn’t fare much better, losing at Aspen, 6-0.
Nicole Rodriguez had the hat trick, while Aspen’s Taylor Buzbee, Merritt Gates and Carly Rosen also scored.
For the injury depleted Gore Rangers, it was a tough day, but coaches Bob Bandoni and Jamie Farquhar were able to find some positives, especially among some of the team’s younger players. The two coaches cited the good play of goalie Kristen Caples, Lindsay Wright, Janelle Kibler-Silengo, Lani Bruntz and Meggie Tuthill.
“Although we are coming from a loss, we genuinely feel that there were a lot of positives,” Bandoni said. “We are a diminished team, through no fault of our own. But, we continue to fight to maintain our integrity.”
