Vail Mountain volleyball takes down Caprock Academy Friday
EAST VAIL — We don’t want to alarm anyone, but Vail Mountain School volleyball is 3-0.
The Gore Rangers continued their strong start by dispatching Caprock Academy, 25-13, 25-11, 25-22, on Friday night in East Vail.
“I think it’s been a good opportunity to figure stuff out,” VMS coach Whitney Armistead said of her team’s quick start. “Our schedule gets more challenging week by week, but we’re building a base to build off. We’re developing some consistency, and we can tweak our play, depending on who we’re playing.
Sarah Evans led the attack on Friday night. If Evans is pounding them down, then it means setter Chloe Pesso was doing her thing. VMS lost its middle-blocker Anna Holguin to a dislocated finger. However, that just produced an opportunity for sophomore Lexi Linafelter, who had seven kills.
VMS hits the road next weekend, playing at Hayden on Friday and then at Meeker on Saturday.
