Vail skiers land Nor-Am wins

MONT GARCEAU, Quebec, and SUNDAY RIVER, Maine – Ski and Snowboard Club Vail alumnus Will Gregorak and Mikaela Shiffrin, who grew up in Vail, swept the men’s giant slalom and women’s slalom Nor-Ams Wednesday in Mont Garceau and Sunday River.
Gregorak was the fastest skier in Mont Garceau as he crossed the finish line with a time of 1 minute, 49.01 seconds, followed by Canadian Ryan Semple in second. Ace Tarberry of New Hampshire rounded out the podium by finishing third with a time of 1:49.31.
Across the 49th parallel, the women switched their GS skis for slalom skis Wednesday in Sunday River.
Two American women finished first and second in the slalom event. Shiffrin landed at the top of the podium with a time of 1:42.03, marking her third career Nor-Am win. Utah’s Kiley Staples finished second with a time of 1:42.75, while Canadian Elli Terwiel closed out the podium in third.
The final men’s and women’s event for this NorAm Cup series take place Thursday as the women race in another slalom event in Sunday River and the men race GS in Mont Garceau.
