ASPEN – It was a good day for Vail Valley competitors at the Winter X Games in Aspen Friday.

Eagle-Vail’s Chris Del Bosco blazed his way into the top spot in skicross qualifying with a time of 1 minute, 28.72 seconds. He was three-tenths of second faster than his nearest competitor and Canadian skicross teammate, Brady Leman.

In fact, the Great White North swept the top-three sports as Dave Duncan was third. Daron Rahlves finished seventh in qualifying.

In women’s snowboardcross, Gypsum’s Faye Gulini zipped to seventh in in 1:50.53. That time was very comfortably within the top 12 required to quaify for the finals. Not surprisingly, Lindsey Jacobellis led the field.

The finals for both men’s skicross and women’s snowbardcross are on Sunday.
