VAIL – The Vail Rugby Club starts its 40th season with the announcement of a new coach, Brandon Daniels. Daniels hails from New Zealand where his professional rugby career started. He was selected to represent his country in the National 7s squad and spent much of his career playing in England’s Zurich Premiership with powerhouse teams Bath, Bristol, Saracens and Harlequins. “His experience will give a great boost to the team as a coach and as player,” said Chris Chantler, Vail RFC’s president. Vail RFC starts this season as the defending Mountain League champions, coming off a 13-1 season. This year’s team looks to build off its current team list, and pick up new and never-ever players. “Over the years we’ve had many new players join the club that have never picked up a rugby ball before and quickly developed into exceptional players,” Chantler said. “We are putting a big emphasis on developing our local players this year.”To kick off this year’s season, the club is hosting a social-mixer at the team pub – The Tap Room in Vail Village. It’s tonight at 5:30 and all old and new players are invited to come and learn about the plans for the coming season. For more information, contact Chantler at 970-393-3062 or by email,
