Vail’s Vonn gets a tuneup at Wrigley Field

The Denver Post
Vail, CO Colorado

CHICAGO – Vail’s Lindsey Vonn has won more World Cup races than any other U.S. skier. She claimed an Olympic gold medal in the downhill in Vancouver. But Tuesday night, her heart was racing as she sang “Take Me Out To The Ball Game” during the seventh-inning stretch at Wrigley Field.

“I knew I would be nervous,” said Vonn, who had her sister, two cousins and 37,029 fans as backup singers. She also threw out the first pitch.

Vonn grew up in Minneapolis before moving to Vail as a teenager to pursue a skiing career. She has been spending the past few days visiting family in Wisconsin before heading to the game. Saturday, she was in Baltimore for the Preakness.

Vonn is not an avid baseball fan but has spent time following the Twins, Cubs and Rockies.

“It worked out perfectly for me. I got to meet players from both teams, and they were great,” Vonn said between autographs.
