Vertical Challenge lands in Vail Saturday

The snowriding season is flying by and there’s no time to lose, so sign yourself up quickly as the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge lands in Vail Saturday, featuring an all-new Rail Jam event presented by Convert.North America’s longest running ski and snowboard promotional tour, the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge features a full day’s worth of recreational racing, music, interactive games and sponsor expos, all free to the participants. New this year is the Mountain Dew Rail Jam. The Rail Jam, open to skiers and boarders, will make 10 stops throughout the Colorado swing of the Tour.Skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities can register for the race from 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Mountain Dew tent at the base of Golden Peak and Lionshead. The first 100 to sign up for the race will receive a free event T-shirt. The first 25 to sign up for the Rail Jam will receive a free event beanie. All participants must purchase a lift ticket or use their season pass.Competition is slated to get under way at 10 a.m. on the Golden Peak, with the race course open until 1 p.m. Rail Jam kicks off at 11 a.m. on Golden Peak’s Free Ski Open Hill for a two-hour heavy metal session.Award ceremonies are at 3 p.m., with the top three in each category receiving medals and invites to the Finals in Breckenridge, April 3, along with a bib prize raffle following the awards presentation.In addition to all the racing action, everyone is encouraged to visit the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge sponsor village, complete with free music, interactive games for the entire family and numerous product-sampling opportunities, including free Mountain Dew and Diet Mountain Dew.The Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge is scheduled to visit 50 of the nation’s premier ski and snowboard resorts this winter, with the Eastern portion of the series also underway.
