Vertical Challenge returns to the Beav

BEAVER CREEK- The snowriding season is flying by and there’s no time to lose, so get yourself geared up as the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Tour returns to Beaver Creek Sunday, featuring the Mountain Dew Rail Jam presented by Convert.Considered the longest running ski and snowboard promotional tour in North America, the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge Series hosts 60 events throughout the 2004-05 winter season at resorts from New York to California.Participants have a full day’s worth of recreational racing, music, interactive games and sponsor expos, all at no cost. In addition to a giant slalom race, athletes test their mettle in the Mountain Dew Rail Jam. The Rail Jam expression session is open to both skiers and boarders. Day-of registration is available from 8 a.m.-noon at the Mountain Dew tent outside of McCoy’s in Beaver Creek. The first 100 to sign up for the GS race will receive a free event T-shirt. The first 25 to sign up for the Rail Jam will receive a free ball cap. All athletes must purchase a lift ticket or use their season pass to participate.Competition gets under way at 10 a.m. on Haymeadow, accessible by taking Chair 1. The Rail Jam starts at 11 a.m. directly above Centennial Express base station.Award ceremonies are on tap for 3 p.m., with top three in each category receiving medals and invites to the finals in Breckenridge, April 1-2, along with a bib prize raffle following the awards presentation.In addition to all the racing action, everyone is encouraged to visit the Mountain Dew Vertical Challenge expo village, complete with free music, interactive games for the entire family and numerous product-sampling opportunities, including free Mountain Dew, Diet Mountain Dew and Mountain Dew Code Red.
