Virtual maps for the Colorado Stage Race
VAIL, Colorado The Vail Valley Foundation recently released virtual maps for the upcoming Colorado Stage International Cycle Classic race that will run from Aug. 22-24.On the first day, the riders will compete in a 130-mile road race from Breckenridge to Beaver Creek. The course, which features more than 11,000 feet of vertical gain, will go over Hoosier Pass (11,524 feet), head south into Alma and Buena Vista on Colorado Highway 285. From there, the riders will go north on U.S. Highway 24 through Leadville and Minturn, and then continue on U.S. Highway 6 before a 3-mile climb up to Beaver Creek Village.Stage 1 map: http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-states/co/breckenridge/947677659
The second day of the event will feature a circuit race through Vail, with riders completing 8.5 laps on an 8.5-mile loop. From the start on Gore Creek Drive in Vail Village, riders will head West on Forest Road to Lionshead and continue to West Vail before coming back to the Vail Village. The 10-mile course is almost all uphill, with about 1,500 feet of elevation gain.
