VMS-Kent Denver snowed out, rescheduled for today
If you go ... Take Two

When: Today, noon.
DENVER — Apparently, soccer and snow do not mix in Denver.
Wednesday’s storm, which blew though the high country, also hit Denver and postponed the 3A and 5A state soccer playoffs to today.
Of local import, the Vail Mountain School plays Kent Denver today at noon at All-City Stadium in Denver.
“We’ve moved those games because their fields are unplayable,” said CHSAA assistant commissioner Bud Ozzello, who oversees boys soccer, on cshaanow.org. “We have to keep the safety of the players at the forefront.”
Snowy Games of Yore
This, of course, may come as a surprise to the VMS community, which spent most of Friday clearing storied Bandoni Alumni Field in East Vail for the quarterfinals against Pagosa Springs.
This may also come as a surprise to the players who played in Friday’s quarterfinals, and lived to tell the tale. On a serious note, Pagosa Springs and the Vail Mountain School coaching staffs got together before Friday’s game and agreed to go forward.
One also might remember the 2012 4A state-championship game at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, which was played in a whiteout, though we forget who won that one.
Apparently, there are no snow plows, blowers or shovels in Denver. Ergo, it’s VMS and Kent Denver at noon today and Fountain Valley and a school called Coal Ridge in the nightcap at 2 p.m. Of course, the state semifinals should be played under optimum conditions, but it doesn’t mean we can’t have a chuckle.
