VMS soccer, Devils spikers win
PARACHUTE — Vail Mountain soccer’s Watts Austen got his first two varsity goals as the Gore Rangers ran their 3A Slope record to 3-0 with a win at Grand Valley on Tuesday.
Clayton Kirwood had a hat trick and Dylan Cunningham scored twice, while Charlie Aziz, Liam Hurley, Robby Gruber and Andres Milmo also scored against the struggling Cardinals.
VMS (5-2-1 overall) starts the meat of its schedule with its last nonconference game on Thursday against Basalt and then league powerhouse Coal Ridge on Saturday. Both games are at tradition-laden Bandoni Alumni Field.
Devils sweep Rifle
Eagle Valley volleyball bounced back into the win column with a 25-10, 15-10, 15-12 win at Rifle on Tuesday night.
After a three-game skid last week, all in five games, that was just what the doctor ordered for the Devils.
Eagle Valley (8-4 overall and 3-2 in the Slope) has Summit tonight for Homecoming.
