Vonn wins U.S. Ski Team athlete of the year award
PARK CITY, Utah ” The accolades keep coming for Lindsey Vonn.
The Vail native was named the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association’s athlete of the year for the second-straight year on Tuesday.
During the 2008-09 season, Vonn successfully defended her World Cup overall and downhill titles. She also won the super-G title this season. At the World Championships in France, Vonn added gold medals in the downhill and the super-G.
Vonn is a alumni of Ski and Snowboard Club Vail.
Joining Vonn as athlete of the year was Lindsey Van. Van became the first women’s world champion in ski jumping to earn the athlete of the year award.
