VRD soccer registration deadline extended
The Vail Recreation District and the Vail Daily have joined forces to bring players, ages 5-13, the Youth Soccer League.
Open to all skill levels, athletes will be broken down into appropriate age groups. U-6 is a new league this year for all 5 year olds. It will run from Aug. 30-Sept. 26 with play each Friday at Ford Park from 4-5 p.m. The focus will be on skill development, small sided games and contests. This league is a great way to introduce little ones to the exciting sport of soccer and/or sharpen some existing skills.
For the older players, the U-8, (ages 6 and 7), and U-10 leagues, (ages 8 and 9), run from Aug. 18-Oct. 11. U-8 games are held on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and will consist of co-ed teams.
The U-10 games are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and are same-sex teams. The fee of $80/$65 for VRD Taxpayers covers league T shirts and all the games will be played locally.
The U-12 ( ages 10 and 11) and U-14 leagues (ages 12 and 13) will play each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from Aug. 18-Oct. 25. These same-sex teams will play throughout the Western Slope. The fee of $115/$95 for VRD Taxpayers includes a full uniform.
Sign-up now as spots are filling up fast. The deadline for U-6-U-10 players has been extended until July 31. Also, only a few spots remain for U-12/U-14 players. These spots will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis.
Don’t forget that all coaches’ children play for free. Contact the VRD sports department at 479-2280 or visit http://www.vailrec.com for more information.
