Waring 11th in World Cup halfpipe

SAAS FEE, Switzerland ” U.S. Snowboarding’s Broc Waring of Edwards turned in his best World Cup result of his young career, taking 11th in the second World Cup halfpipe event of the season.

Waring had the top U.S. men’s result, while Swiss rider Iouri Podladtchikov won with 43.9 points. Waring, 15, from Vail Mountain School, was 11th in the field of 51 riders with 20.2 points. His first World Cup event came last March. Minturn’s Dylan Bidez was 33rd. Both Bidez and Waring are rookie riders for the U.S. Snowboarding Team.

The next World Cup halfpipe contest is scheduled for Jan. 27 at Bardonecchia, Italy, the Olympic venue in 2006.
